MAY 2018 THEME: EXPLORATION

Exploration is defined as the action of traveling in or through an unfamiliar area in order to learn about it.

If you haven’t had time to sail the seven seas or go snorkeling in the great barrier reef, fret not. Our adventurous restless soul is constantly looking for something new to experience, and when we cant travel ourselves, we bring the travels to us via scent! We’ve encompassed four exploration ideas/inspiration and packed them into this wild and memorable box!

And as if exploring wasn’t exciting enough on it’s own, this May Exploration box will feature a special extra item, along with a limited edition multicolor layered candle. We’re not gonna call it a rainbow candle… but it may be rainbow-esque in nature.

For a chance to win this box for free, comment below your favorite exploration story! Duplicate entries will be removed. Minimum of 30 entries for winner to be chosen.

Once upon a time I spent a month studying in Klagenfurt, Austria (I was a German major). One weekend we had free without any planned trips, and the rest of the American students decided to go to Amsterdam for the weekend. I stayed in Klagenfurt and hung out with some of the locals: went to an outdoor film, hit a few small local bars, paddle boated on the crystal-clear lake, andhad an amazing time soaking up the town in a way I wouldn’t have surrounded by familiar faces. My time spent there features some of my favorite memories exploring.

My favorite exploration was paddling a boat out down the river as a small child.

I love to go explore near my home. I don’t think you need to go far to get the thrill of exploring, and do my favorite this year was when I took a wrong turn and ended up close to home but somewhere I hadn’t been before. I got a bit nervous at first since I was a bit lost, but I found the most beautiful view, and it’s so nice knowing now that I can go back whenever I want. :)

Growing up my best friend and I spent our summers exploring the world around us! The giant pond behind my house, the many fields, and the forests that surrounded us! It wasn’t a successful day unless we came home tired and covered in mud!

What a cool theme! One of my favourite places to explore was London. Since I’d wanted to go there for sooo long, it was like a scavenger hunt of all the things I’d always wanted to see. Round a corner, there’s Big Ben – freak out. Round another corner, there’s Buckingham Palace – freak out. Wander down Baker Street to 221B – freak out. You get the idea, haha. I also loved that even though it was a giant city with millions of people, you could suddenly find yourself in a huge park, surrounded by nature, where you could completely forget you were even in a city.

The Husband and I love hiking the Flint Hills when we can. The very first time we went we saw Bison very up close. It was magical!

Hello Dio!!!
I absolutely love exploring the many cave systems around my home. I live in Kentucky and there are many caves. Me and my husband go to the caves and explore and search for arrowheads and anything else interesting. It’s really something!

I have loved all of my adventures, but the one that sticks with me the most is Scotland. Being there was magical, from the Highlands to the coastline. Such a gorgeous country with wonderful people and captivating accents. We visited hotels, cottages, farms and went on boats, ferries and cars rides. There is ancient history mixed with modern living. Castles and distilleries. We hiked Arthur’s Seat, up to the Wallace Monument and the Isle of Skye. Toured Edinburgh and Stirling, in awe. Also visited the castle used in Monty Python and the Holy Grail 😂 After, we hopped over to Northern Ireland, which boasts a beautiful coastal drive ❤

I don’t have one particular story. Whenever we go on our family vacations, we always try to go somewhere new and explore different areas. We’ve found so many unique places by just going somewhere on a whim.

This theme sounds so cool! I went to Bermuda once with my boyfriend and we got lost on the moped somewhere in the city, but it was a fun day! We ended up talking to locals and enjoying the small restaurants.

2011 was a changing year for me. Got my first big girl job after struggling 2 years after college. Saved up my pennies to go across the country to visit a friend in Seattle! Being my first big solo trip, I had nerves for months, crossing to West coast from Central New York. Right before the trip, my family found out my mom had stage 3 lung cancer and had to start chemo and radiation right away. I was ready to cancel the trip but mom told me no. She wanted me to live life, wanted me to see the world and she encouraged me that this trip was a start. If I canceled now, we didn’t know when I would have the chance again. I went with fear in my heart but I went. My friend is the best guy like ever (don’t tell him that, he’ll get a bigger ego) and made sure he gave me the best trip ever. We went to the city, we went to Forks and La Push (#teamtwilight), we played in a very cold ocean, and he gave me piece of mind even if it was for 10 days. This trip got me ready for a hard challenge, and now 5 years later, mom is still cancer free! Explore a new state, explore your mind, explore with a friend, explore the world, you never know when that will change who you are!

My favorite place I got to explore was Germany. I went there on study abroad for two and a half months. It was so amazing to explore a (kind of) new language and land and culture. We stayed in student housing and went to the university every weekday. We ate lunch in the student cafe. We rented bikes and rode the bus. It was so amazing to explore the restaurants and the immersion class we took was amazing. I met friends and went to pubs and watched soccer at viewing parties. I did a mud-flat walk on the North Sea.

My parents decided to come to and travel around Europe and they came to visit me. They took me and one of my friends to Berlin (my dad drove the Autobahn!). We got to see pieces of the Berlin Wall and got to see the Brandenburg Tor. There were so many things that me and my friends did. I got to learn and live in a place that I never would of imagined myself going but I am so glad that I did. It opened my eyes to the world around me and made me want to see more.

I took a road trip to Flagstaff and it was so much fun exploring. I got to listen to audiobooks on the drive up, go to used book stores and then explore the forest. It was so beautiful and lovely exploring on my own. No one to tell me no to what I wanted to do.

One of my favourite moments of exploration was when my best friend and I went geocaching. We found this random dirt road and we ended up following it until we lost cell reception, so we couldn’t geocache anymore, but we found a random campgroup with cabins and lakes and fantastic views. It was awesome

My favorite exploration story would definitely be when I visited Puerto Rico. I went with my family, before I was married. My older brother and I spent hours walking all the different beaches. It truly was a beautiful place, one I had never seen before.
