I will say, this candle does not have a decay smell (by decay I mean flesh decay as in cadaverine, putrescine, etc). I don't know why you'd want that in a candle, but if you were expecting to smell death it isn't here. However, it does remind me greatly of lake slop. You know, the algae and plant stuff that the ducks kick around in - a sulphuric, menthol-y funk. There is a saltiness, so it's not a 1:1 with a freshwater lake, but I really enjoy it as someone who likes the concept of marshes more than beaches. The rain, eucalyptus, and cedar carry a fair amount of weight here, which is nice because somehow I end up with quite a lot of sandalwood/musk candles and I was hoping those notes weren't that strong in this one. Dio continues to be a candle company that innovates without alienating (look, if you want a novelty candle that is intended to not smell good at all - like, have zero redeeming pleasantness - there are other makers that do that for gag gifts). Also mentioning in this review that I greatly appreciate the care taken to package these safely. These were so secure even shipped as two separate candles - never had to worry about them clanging into each other or getting crushed.

I really wanted to like this candle more than I did, I wish it smelled more fishy but it does have a gross brininess that I was looking for so I will still burn it.

Candle is well crafted, packaging is great, shipped fast but it smells nothing like low tide, which is the aspect I wanted most. I know the pungent smell of low tide is not something everyone would want but the salty, marshy stench of low tide is actually what I was hoping for as it is a gift for someone who loves it, and this smell just isn't that.

I have purchased several sea themed candles from Dio for a friend that is a pirate reenactor. I believe it has been 6 total and I will continue to marvel over these wonderfully scented candles. Dio has gone beyond my expectations from the secure packaging, prompt delivery and purchase communications. Everyone should take a look there is a little something for everyone!

To me, it smells like soap not much ocean smell but scents are subjective. A nice candle though, delivered quickly with a nice note.

Candle was clearly high quality and well packaged! The only drawback imo was that it didn’t actually have any hint of decay; I got it for a friend who specifically would have liked it if it did, but it was a nice candle regardless
